Welcome!

The Roudnice English Club is an informal group of native and advanced English speakers in and around Roudnice nad Labem in the Czech Republic. We get together at least once a month for social evenings spent speaking English.

Our regular attendees come from the UK, the USA, Ireland, Kenya and, of course, the Czech Republic. We include a fair number of language teachers as well as business people and students. What we all share is a desire to spend time just speaking good-quality English - either because it's our native language and we like to be able to use it in a relaxed atmosphere, or because we speak excellent English and enjoy the chance to do so.

What we provide

The REC exists mainly to provide a space for speaking high-quality English. It's that simple.

We also provide a support base for English-speaking expatriates in the Roudnice area, and our get-togethers provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, information and general mutual support.

This site will include a number of useful links for expatriates, some information about Roudnice, and some more general information about where to find good English on the radio and television. Other pages will be added as the whim takes us... The site is still under construction, so please bear with us until it's done - and check back regularly for updates!

Interested in joining us?

If you're an English-speaking expatriate in the Roudnice area, then we'd like to hear from you - drop us a line!

If you're a non-native speaker and are interested in joining us, please understand that we are a social club. We do not teach. If your English isn't already very good, there's really no point in coming along; although many of us speak good - or at least some - Czech, we will not be doing so! (This also explains why this page is in English and not Czech, of course.)

We meet regularly on the second Saturday evening of each month. Information about the venue for the next meeting is usually sent by e-mail (or SMS if there's really no alternative) 2-3 weeks in advance.

Get in touch

Obviously, we're not into handing out our members' addresses and phone numbers... so if you'd like to get in touch - whether with enquiries, comments, queries, suggestions or anything else - please use the link below to send us an e-mail. Thanks!
